If you asked Heidi to tell you her favourite style house in Vancouver, she would answer you in a heartbeat – tudor. So when this beautiful tudor mansion in Vancouver came on her radar, she was beyond excited to help with the colour choices.
The house was built in the 1920’s and sits on a corner lot in Shaughnessy. It’s a beautiful big home with a separate garage and elegant curved driveway.
Warline started extensive prep on this house using a boom to get to the highest soffits with the Festool extraction equipment. Unlike in the USA, lead paint containment is not required by law in Canada. As a company we have decided not to wait until the laws catch up and we take precautions when working on old houses. Festool extractors and sanders help us minimize airborne dust. We use water permeable covering to catch paint chips so they don’t end up in the ground.
The previous paint colours on the house were washed out and faded. The house needed timeless elegance. Colours were chosen from the Farrow and Ball colour palette and then carefully colour matched using Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior Latex paint.
The siding and trim was matched to Farrow and Ball Railings, No. 31. It’s a rich inky black that worked perfect with Farrow and Ball Cornforth White No. 228 that was used on the window trim and stucco. Using semi-gloss on the windows highlighted the beautiful windows.
By far the most beautiful feature of this Shaughnessy house is the stunning red front door. Using Farrow and Ball Full Gloss Paint in Incarnadine No. 248, this door is drop dead gorgeous. It’s no wonder we get more requests for red front doors than any other colour. The hand brushed door adds to the tradition and elegance of the look.
