When choosing the exterior colour for a house one of the most important factors is the colour of any stone or masonry on the house. It was especially important with this Burnaby home. This lovely custom built home featured a dark stone around the front door and lower portion of the house. The stone was dark and had a subtle purple undertone that was evident in the sun.

GETTING NAVY RIGHT

The homeowner wanted to keep the house navy so it was important we found a colour that complimented the stone and expansive brick walkway and deck.

The siding was painted using Benjamin Moore Mysterious (AF-565) Aura Exterior Latex in a low lustre sheen. Low lustre finish is our first choice of when working with rich siding colours. The accent colour on the shingles was done in Benjamin Moore Shadow Gray (2125-40).

Finally all the trim was painted in Benjamin Moore Gardenia (AF-10). This is a beautiful trim colour with a hint of pink that picks up the undertones of Mysterious.

A GRAND ENTRANCE

In addition, all the hardware on the doors were beautiful ornate chrome. The hardware required just as beautiful of a colour.

Instead of sticking with straight black, we chose the inky colour Witching House (2120-30) by Benjamin Moore. Not quite black but dark and full of undertone, this colour was a perfect match to the hardware.
